Nirvana Adventures End of Paragliding Season Party – June 2018

It was a convergence of friends old and new; paragliding pilots, surfers, entrepreneurs, adventurers and thousands of fireflies came together to celebrate Nirvana Adventure’s 20th Anniversary paragliding season end. Local drums got us all into a dancing frenzy, while the myriad fireflies lit up the trees around.

Now on a holiday in India with friends from NZ Sinchan organised for all of them to sign up for an Elementary Pilot Course. His close friends from Mumbai joined in too. NZ friends Miky, Arjun and Sean loved the paragliding course and had a lot of good things to say about it. As did Sonal Sharma, Manan Vora  and  Avik Das.

We had an awesome end of season celebration last weekend with pilots and well wishers dropping by from all over. Pilots gathered at Native Place in the morning and the excitement of meeting familiar faces and catching up with old acquaintances lent a happy holiday feeling all around.

It was great fun to watch every pilot take off and quickly rise above the Shelar Mountain. There were nearly 20 pilots who had already taken to the air – Rinul Pashankar, Dylan Fernandes and Hiren Savla were amongst them. It was time for Apoorva Talwalkar and Me to join them. Finally, I said to myself with a big grin, I’m going to fly.

Sunday was an amazing day. We all got pretty high. Dylan got up to 1500 and headed out as planned. He flew downwind and landed at Lonavala about 10 km as the crow flies. Some of us went to retrieve him and when he met he said with a big grin “I left the dog to die’ A phrase we picked up from Jocky Sanderson.

All in all it was a wonderful experience. Jocky Sanderson acted as a catalyst and raised our energy levels, heightened ur eagerness to learn & better ourselves. Practice Practice Practice, Push your boundaries, become one with your wing were the key words flying around. He changed the way we percieved our home sites and opened our thought process to new and exciting possibilities.
